It is a fabulous pageant, the bands come from all around to participate as well. There are a lot of schools that get involved as well. Very entertaining. Even got high fived by a Wally :)
It's a great family day. It is a shame more towns don't do something like this, even on a smaller scale. I remember when our small town had the 'hospital carnival' and the kids from various schools paraded down the main street in costumes. They should seriously bring it back.
Oh how wonderful. It reminded me of a spring festival my hometown had when I was a kid and there were floats etc. There's nothing like that (here) now!
Wow! Impressive! We used to have processions like this years ago. I was in one when I was about four years old dressed up as a hula girl. Hope you had fun :)
Wow - that looks like so much fun! I love that towns go to the effort to put on events like this. They create such wonderful family memories :-)

ReplyDeleteVery proud of the Mt Gambier pageant. Great history and great community spirit :)
DeleteWhat a fab pageant! I haven't been to one in years. Totally love Papa Smurf - real belly too?
ReplyDeleteI think that was real belly!
DeleteThat looks like a whole lotta fun. I've never been to a street parade. Must put it on the to-do list!
ReplyDeleteDo that! The kids love it :)
Deletelooks like fun. I love an old fashioned float parade.

That is such a shame. I was talking to someone the other day about where the sense of community and sense of pride in a town has gone.
DeleteYes, great pictures, great framing, beautiful full color! I have loved this fun parade!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tradition. I honestly can't remember the last time I went to a parade!
