Don't forget the camera!

A farm, a paddock for kite flying, a girl, dried up weeds and that golden end of a day.

I've been wanting to share these photos, but I was reluctant because they weren't great. They were taken with my phone. It was one of those kick myself times, when I should have had the camera in the car. Just in case. Hindsight sucks.

Many times I have made a pact with myself to TAKE THE CAMERA. After this night, I have definitely changed my habits, and take the camera. Because you never know.

I went to coffee with a friend, which is weird to say, because I don't drink coffee. I had a pot of peppermint tea. She's a creative person, like me. We have great conversations about cooking, gardening, arts and photography. I never feel exhausted talking with her. Only uplifted and inspired.

I talked about forgetting the camera. About not pulling over and taking photos when a view takes my fancy. Most of the time it's because I have the kids in the car, because my mind is on a mission to just get to the destination. She agreed, she used to do the same when her kids were younger. She even said that she does the same now, even though her kids are grown.

Is it because life is so busy?

Is it because I am only thinking of the end game, and not embracing what's happening right now?

I need to slow down. Do the things that make me happy. Fulfilled. AND take the camera everywhere!

Back roads and windtowers

Sunday I took off from home about nine thirty in the morning.  I couldn't get out of there quick enough leaving the girls to a hungover Brett!

I was on my way to the holiday house half an hour away, to clean, as guests were leaving that morning. I had some time to kill as I didn't want to get there too early. They messaged me just before 10 (as I was chatting with the bull) to say they had left and that they'd had a great time, which was lovely. Most of the region was booked out for Generations in Jazz weekend in Mt Gambier.

My camera came along with me, of course. I turned off at Tantanoola, along the Wind farm tourist drive. So many great views to stop and appreciate.

The Tantanoola/Kongorong Road

I finally got my night away from Brett and the kids on Friday.  I managed to avoid them for a whole 24 hours, and a bit.

It was only a nights stay at the beach house, and I should have relaxed more than I actually did. Instead of putting my feet up, I mowed the lawn, which isn't really that much hard work on a ride on. I actually quite enjoy it. Like therapy, time to think.

I did some tidying up in the garden, watered the lawn and hung a blackboard next to the back door of the house. If you have a look in the sidebar for the Instagram feed, you'll probably see it there.

I also attached a weather strip to the bottom of the front door, which turned out to be a total pain in the arse, with me having to unscrew it twice before I got it right! The fact that I was onto my second glass of wine had nothing to do with it! At least it will keep the rain out now, when it pours in that direction.

I sat down after that and finished my bottle of wine watching Married at first sight catch ups until after midnight. I got sucked in.

I was going to stay the entire weekend, but someone wanted to rent it Saturday night, and not wanting to miss on some rent money I left on Saturday morning. I ducked in at home, drove to Southend and fished for the rest of the day on the jetty. I caught one legal fish! The bloke next to me caught 10! Bastard! That's the luck of the draw.

On the way home from the beach house I took my time going home, stopping to take some photos on the Tantanoola/Kongorong Road. I had a good chat with a farmer at the Snake Paddock gate, which was nice. He's name was Alan. I should have asked to take his photo. When I saw the name on the gate, I was a bit concerned I only had thongs on. He laughed and said "Just don't look down and keep on walking"! Alright for him, he had boots and jeans on!

The road to Pelican Point

Often I have driven these roads, taken in the scenery and thought I must share it. Monday of the long weekend, I headed to Pelican Point to clean the house, after tenants had been through.

It's around a 40 kilometre drive through farm lands. After you turn off the Tantanoola/Kongorong road, the scenery turns to pine plantations all the way to Carpenter Rocks.

I was by myself as Brett was home from work, and had taken the girls to a friends house to play.

I had all the time in the world to stop and take the photos I've so often thought I should.
