Back roads and windtowers

Sunday I took off from home about nine thirty in the morning.  I couldn't get out of there quick enough leaving the girls to a hungover Brett!

I was on my way to the holiday house half an hour away, to clean, as guests were leaving that morning. I had some time to kill as I didn't want to get there too early. They messaged me just before 10 (as I was chatting with the bull) to say they had left and that they'd had a great time, which was lovely. Most of the region was booked out for Generations in Jazz weekend in Mt Gambier.

My camera came along with me, of course. I turned off at Tantanoola, along the Wind farm tourist drive. So many great views to stop and appreciate.

It's the wet season

It's been a very wet month. So much rain.

I took these while out driving with the girls. Sometimes I just have to chuck them in the car and drive. I am not sure how that works when we get cabin fevered in a house and then I go stick us in an even smaller space and everything is cool.

I think the change of scenery works wonders.

It's taken on Mayurra Road(a back road out of town), at the intersection of Bakers Road.

The colours of the paddocks and the amount of water laying about really caught it my attention. It took my breath away.

There are so many times I see a sight like this and just keep driving. I have been making a point of stopping, not letting that feeling go, and capturing what I see.

Power/Electricity

My place in time #56

About 15 km out of town, towards the Canunda National Park coast, is South Australia's largest, turbine wind farm. It consists of just over 120 wind turbines, dotted through the landscape for  about 25 kilometres. The Lake Bonney wind farm is currently owned by Infigen Energy, the first stage being completed in 2005 and the third stage and last 13 turbines in 2010.

I find it so peaceful beneath one of these turbines and mesmerising to watch, they have a certain hum and whoosh. It's quite an amazing sight, and I love coming for a drive out to see them.

There has been much controversy about the 'side effects' of living in proximity of the turbines, not that I know much about it. It has been in the local paper lately though.
