Moana beach and a wedding

We spent a little time by the beach during the holidays, despite the fact Spring really hadn't sprung in South Australia and it was still rainy, COLD and windy. We did see some sunshine briefly, but like they say, wait five minutes and you will have four seasons in one day.

I was in awe of this fantastic wood carving in Meningie, created by Millicent's own Ant Martin.
The Ant Trail

We stayed by the beach at Moana, south of Adelaide, for a family wedding in the first week of holidays. The marriage of my neice Claire was held at a winery in the McLaren Vale wine region. She married a Danish lad, Sam, who's family are all outrageously good looking. It was a fantastic wedding, though aren't they all in their own respective ways. It special when it's family.

Our place settings double up as our bonbennieres.

Izzy and I woke early in the morning and went for a walk on the beach. With the rough weather, the usually beautiful sand was gone and the beach was covered with rocks. I like collecting rocks from beaches all over the place.

In the second week of the holidays I took the girls fishing. Izzy is as keen as mustard, but Summer not so much. We went to the Southend drain with no luck and then to the jetty. It has been so wet, the drain is more fresh water than salt. The fish don't like it.

Summer sat in the car playing with my phone because she was too scared to go on the jetty. We caught a couple of slimy cod which weren't much to write home about. They tasted good!

All the brown, fresh water running out to sea. It's so brown from the dirt that has been washed away from other swelling drains and paddocks. We've had a ridiculous amount of rain.

Izzy had pink hair for the holidays!

Crabbing at The Point

The kids love to go crabbing at Pelican Point. There is one part of the beach that is covered in rocks, and every turned stone reveals several crabs, scurrying for shelter. We collected them in a green castle bucket. I drew a line in the sand, then we laughed and squealed as we watched the crabs race back to the rocks, seeing which one would cross the line first. Good fun.

The girls and I spent a good part of Sunday morning wandering around the beaches of Blackfellows Caves and Pelican Point, while Brett and Jake went out fishing in the boat.

Pecilan Point

No I haven't spelt it wrong. I've spelt it just the way Summer says it. Isn't it funny how pronunciations just stick.

One of my friends once mispronounced 'caravan'. She said "Canaravan", ever since it's stuck in my vocabulary when I talk about our old van. It's long gone now, we sold it after we bought the holiday house! No need for the van now. Our last trip in her was to Marysville, to the snow, this time last year.

Over the weekend we went to stay at our holiday home in Pelican Point. We had a nice day on Saturday.

Brett took the girls for a bike ride and I followed a bit later on foot, for a stroll down to the beach. There's a lot of weed on this stretch of beach. The sand is grey and when it is dry, it's like powder. It gets in everywhere.

When I caught up with them, the girls had stripped of their pants and were playing in the water. I am sure kids don't feel the cold like us oldies do.

You're being bombarded with photos. I haven't been in the habit of carrying my camera around for ages.

On Friday night I went to the opening of SALA, at our local art gallery. It was SO nice to be out of the house on my own. I picked up a glass of wine on my way in, looked at some amazing art and chatted to some awesome local artists. It was so interesting to listen to the stories behind their art, and what inspires them. It was awesome to experience the feeling of community.

So it's given me a push and thirst to be creative. I am hoping I find some inspiration to draw or paint from the photos I take.

The car I do own

My place in time #65 - The car I do own

I will wait while you get the Ford jokes out the way.

*Found On Rubbish Dump
*Fixed Or Repaired Daily
*The majority of Fords are still on Australian roads, some even made it home.
*Found in Rednecks driveway

I was once told by someone that the 2005 Falcon is a good model so these may be more appropriate

*For Only Real Drivers
*First On Race Day
*Fastest on Race Day

Whatever your perception, I know that this little beauty, needs less maintenance, and is more neglected than hubbys Commodore and just keeps going!

The girls washed my car on Monday.

Seconds after this shot, I had to get out the way too!

Yesterday, while Izzy was at kindy, Summer helped me collect rocks for a garden bed around their cubby house. We went down a side track in the pines looking for rocks, only to hit the rock jackpot!

The scab on her nose is healing after she face planted at the playground last week.

Working hard collecting rocks.
Do you have an alliance with Ford or Holden?
What was your first car?
Mine was a Royal Purple Datsun. After that I'd only had Holdens, and an amazing Mitsusquishi Magna, that was sports kitted and I loved it.

This Ford was firstly owned by the Wattle Range Council, purchased from our local Ford dealer, Mac Ford. Then my mum owned it, and now I drive it around.
