Grateful for what we have

I guess there's a lot of people who take where they live for granted. There's probably a whole lot more who never get out to see how great, what they have in their own neighbourhood is.

It annoys me to hear locals and ex residents bag our local area.  Did they even go out and experience what we have here in the Limestone Coast?

We are so lucky with the natural playgrounds we have on our doorstop, drop in some friends and it makes for a great weekend.

Boggy had no luck with the fishing on the beach. Izzy got a bit daring on her go kart. We made tracks in the sand. The kids found crabs in the rocks, and when it rained we played cards, scrabble, drew or read.

We enjoyed fresh fish from the ocean, caught from the boat in Bungalow Bay. The conditions weren't perfect, but it satisfied the older kids, who were keen to get out there and try. They caught mullet, trevally and whiting. It tasted amazing, coated in flour and fried in a shallow pan. Shared lazy bbq meals, with friends and family in our outdoor living space. How fortunate are we.

Fullness

I know, I know! I was AWOL last week for Open Slather.

We spent the long weekend at Pelican Point, at the holiday house. Friends came to stay for a couple of nights with their kids. It was fantastic.

I had no credit on my phone and didn't take my computer, and had nothing prepared or scheduled in advance. Sorry if you turned up here wanting to link up.

A totally different weekend to the one just gone, with the voting and spending four hours yesterday perched at IGA behind a card table flogging raffle tickets for the gymnastic club easter raffle! It's the first time Ive ever done that, and the interraction with the public, even the people watching was so good. I enjoyed every minute. Not to mention the extra funds I raised for the club.

Life is full right now, and when it not full, it is preparing for the fullness,  or dealing with its aftermath.

It's all good.

Port Fairy folkie 2014

Ginger and Tonic, 4 girls sing acapella with a difference

Good one Dad, perfect toy...NOT! It mysteriously went missing when we got back to the caravan. Sssshh, it's still in the cupboard under the fridge.

No there's not dirt on your screen, just Izzys head.

We had a right royal crack up at Summer on this one. She's a little goer and loved every minute, even holding up the line on her way up.

More markets than you could poke a stick at, no, really, there was shiploads!

Land of the Long Weekend #openslather

It's a public holiday today in South Australia, for the Adelaide Cup, and Labour Day in Victoria. The 10th of March is also Canberra Day in the ACT, and Eight Hours Day in Tassie.

We've travelled over the border into Victoria for a few days in Warrnambool, at the Surfside caravan park. The park is chocca block, the fullest I've seen it in years. It's on the beach and the Victorian Nipper(surf life saving)championships were on, kids and good looking fit people everywhere!

With so many people, the go was getting up at sparrows fart for a shower, to avoid the line up. About five in the pm was also a bad time, I bathed the girls in the laundry tubs. So glad I had a spare bath plug in the caravan, because they don't provide them with the tub.

One of the perks of getting up early, is going out for a walk to watch the sunrise, before the kids were up. There is an awesome walking, running and cycling track along the beach, also where you will see lots of good looking fit people(that wasn't me!).

It's been a great weekend, friends joined us, and we went to the Port Fairy folk festival and checked out some of the sights.

The next long weekend we are expecting is Good Friday on the 18th of April, followed by Easter Saturday and Easter Monday, then Anzac Day on Friday the 25th of April. I am wondering how many people have put in for those three days off work in between Easter and Anzac Day!

We've been going on a few short trips of late, I am looking forward to staying home over Easter.

Are you off anywhere over Easter?

What do you get up to on your long weekends?
