ICAD 2016 - The ninth and final week

The final week for ICAD 2016, was way back on the last week in July!

I have finally done the last two prompts I hadn't gotten around to doing. We were rather busy at the end of July, with a gym concert and a trip to the snow, and the index card a day challenge was a casualty.

I posted my cards every week, so to dot all the I's, here is that last week of prompts, almost three months late!

Week 9

#57 Stickers

#58 Graffiti

#59 Hopscotch

#60 Sorbet

#61 Path

ICAD 2016 - Week 8

ICAD #50 Paisley

ICAD #51 purple or violet
Purple fingerprints made into balloons

ICAD #52 staircase

ICAD #53 fortune
I was thinking big dollar signs for this one, with glitter. changed my mind and went with fortune telling. Don't ask me what the Ace of Cups means, I have no idea! Ever had your fortune told? I haven't, but I am curious. My extent is reading the stars signs in the local rag.

ICAD #54 aquarium.
This was a card I prepared a couple of weeks ago. Lime green background with orange blotches. When I looked at it while thinking about this prompt, the orange blotches were asking to be turned into fish.

ICAD #55 Olympics
I am looking forward to the Olympics. I am hoping the Izzy gets to see the gymnastics on the telly, even more so, hoping it is a peaceful Olympic Games.

ICAD #56 text or texture
I went with texture with this one. I found a scrap of crosstitch fabric, and other bits and bobs from my craft box. I first started crosstitching when I was pregnant with my first. I have several crosstitich samplers framed on the walls that are 25 years old! The one I was doing when he was born is one of those and is so special to me.

ICAD 2016 - Week 7

ICAD #43 mint
This is a hybrid Minties and Mentos card. A local servo was giving away free mentos with fuel purchases. I put the wrappers to good use. I also had no idea there was a choc mint flavour, they taste pretty good too. Minties always remind me of my grandad. Whenever he came over, us kids were so excited because his pockets would be full of Minties, just for us.

ICAD #44  Rainbow making machine
This is where rainbows come from. Right?

ICAD #45 Play on words
Pardon the pun

ICAD # 46 Lighthouse

ICAD #47 Monochromatic
Monochrome doesn't necessarily mean black and white. I was looking through and old magazine to cut from, and there seemed to be lots of green, so I went with it.

ICAD #48 Aurora borealis
A bit of an abstract one.

ICAD #49 superhero
It took me a lot of years, to realise my mum is a superhero.

ICAD 2016 - Week 6

ICAD #36 Crystal or prism
When I googled 'prism', Pink Floyd's, Dark side of the moon cover came up. So I went with it.

ICAD #37 meditation
My first Mandala!

ICAD #38
When I was preggers with my first, 24 years ago, mum and I attended a folk art day class. While I didn't have the right brushes, or paint, this card was easy.
ICAD #39 Lens
Why am I still seeing women wearing leggings as pants. The trick ladies is, to wear a tunic top that will cover your bum. Really!! It's not that hard!

ICAD #40 Surfboard

ICAD #41 Longitude and latitude
It took me just about all day to work out what I was doing with this prompt. The coordinates are for the Canunda national park. I love going there.

ICAD #42 Yellow
When I thought of yellow, my mind went to Itsy bitsy yellow polka dot bikini, and stayed there for most of the day! Isabel even asked "Have you got that song stuck in your head Mum?".

ICAD 2016 - Week 5

So far, so good.

I have made it over half way in this years Index card a day challenge. There was a stage last week when I felt I was slowing down and losing motivation. I got over that and now have found something else in the tank, to fire on.

I am getting so inspired to create. I've bought some more watercolour paints and paper. If only I had the time to dedicate to all the things I'd like to do. Not enough hours in the day.

#29 aqua or pool

#30 Trivial pursuit
I used to like this game. Haven't seen in or played it for donkeys (bloody ages).

#31 one hundred
A grid of one hundred different colours of crayons, textas, pencils and gel pens

#32 zodiac
I really like this one. After racking my brain, I came up with twelve houses of the
zodiac. Number six is my house, the Virgo.

#33 magic

#34 Statue of liberty
If she had a day off, I am sure she'd like kite flying. Or maybe just letting her arm down for a rest, maybe I should have painted a glass of wine in her hand instead.

#35 sunflower
I took inspiration from this post I did, on that one time I grew sunflowers successfully

ICAD 2016 - week 3

ICAD #15 Bouquet
I cut out flowers from some fabric I had lurking in my junk box. It's a hat box I keep bits and pieces in. The fabric was a cot quilt panel I never got round to using. I sewed buttons on from my jar of buttons, which also lives in the hat box. Every time I get that spare button from garments I've bought, it goes in there.

ICAD #16 Wallpaper
Hubby has a rag bag in the shed, he bought from Lifeline. I had a rifle through and found this flannelette piece of fabric. It kind of reminded me of wallpaper. I decorated a wooden tile to make it look like the corner of a painting on the wall.

ICAD #17 Landscape
I did this the day after it was supposed to be done, with colour pencils. It's a view from my sister in law's house, or my dodgy interpretation!

ICAD #18 Orange
Not quite an orange, but the right colour, and a close cousin. I did this one straight after the landscape prompt. Coloured pencils.

ICAD #19 Snowflake
Another scrap of fabric out of my junk box. It would be wonderful to have a pair of scissors in my house that actually cuts fabric well. I did this from memories of making snowflakes at school by cutting paper.

ICAD #20 1960s

Water colour, crayon, sharpies and pencil. Groovy baby.

ICAD #21
This was an invent your own theme. I was inspired by my bowl of soup for lunch. All I had in my stash was shades of blue in my cross stitch thread stash, Yes, I have all sorts in my junk box!

ICAD 2016 Week 2

ICAD #8 Island
Sandpaper island, paint chip card sea and tree.

ICAD #9 Compass.

ICAD #10 Cobalt blue
I collated all the cobalt blue materials I had. Paint, fine line sharpie, crayon.
The paint I used was a kids paint from the cheap shop, on the card it dries quite chalky.
I started with the blue flowers and felt it needed something in the background.

ICAD #11 Baseball
I printed out a google map of our local baseball field and stuck it on the card. I drew a baseballer,
tore around it and stuck it on.

ICAD # 12 TV
Watching too much tv gives you square eyes, right?! Maria learnt the hard way. Probably a Netflix
overdose of Walking Dead or Game of Thrones (eye roll). I've never watched either, so I don't get the hype.
Spanish to english translation: ojos = eyes. Cuadrado = square.

ICAD # 13  playground
This was a quick draw to catch up the day. The card was prepared with the lime green swirls, my favourite colour. The slide looks odd, I know.

ICAD #14 Venn diagram
I had to google what a venn diagram looked like, coz I had no idea. In hindsight, I should have
made it a colour mixing chart more so than random colours. Oh well. Move on.
