An eventful weekend at the Point

We've just spent another weekend at the holiday house. Getting in, before the rush of holiday renters over the busy summer months.

The new artwork I made from wooden slats has been hung, wine drunk and sunset walks on the beach had.

The kids has so much fun looking for seaweed pods and blue bottles to pop on our after dinner walks.

My highlight was finding fishing worms with my mum and the girls on Saturday at Blackfellows Caves. Awesome bonding time. Mum enjoyed it too, passing down knowledge that her Mum had taught her. We are now expertly advised about how to find the best fishing worms in the region!

We entertained on the Saturday in our new outdoor space, built by Brett, with some help from family and friends. I stayed out of it mostly, to save argument. If you had ever seen us putting up a tent or an annex on a caravan, it was probably for the best!

I am so happy how it has come together.

I feel like my eyes are hanging out of my head this morning, as Brett did something to his neck and spent a good part of Saturday night in the ER at Mount Gambier. He's all good for now. Thankfully our visitors stayed overnight with the kids.

A nurse found me a bed to sleep in, and managed to get a couple of hours sleep, missing all the action and drama of a busy weekend night in emergency. Apparently it was colourful. Can I just say that hospital blankets straight from the warmer are absolutely underated, and much appreciated, with a cup of tea at midnight.

Driving home at half past three in the morning, I hit my first roo. Terrible experience, the car survived with out any damage (big bullbar). We almost made it home without hitting one. They were everywhere at that time of the morning.

It would have been nice to have a less eventful weekend, these things seem to happen right when I don't them to, keeping me on my already tired toes.

Hoping for a quiet lead up to Christmas, I need a break!

Weather #fmy52weeksofmemories

Sunday saw us head to Southend. Brett launched the boat and took Izzy out fishing. She caught two flathead, outfishing her Dad, and had a great time. Nothing made me happier and more proud seeing her ride in, sitting up on the bow.

Summer and I hung out on the beach. Summer exploring, and I taking too many photos, if there is such a thing.

The tide was out and gave us the opportunity to walk out on the reef. This was something new for the girls, it was awesome to experience it with them. I was nervous with my camera out there and chose my footing carefully!

It was pretty overcast all day, with a little late rain in the afternoon. After the rain, the clouds disappeared. By the time the sun was out in the blue sky, we were on our way home. It was considerably warmer in town. We really had four seasons in one day.

February #52weeksofmemories

5. bedtime
My cheeky sods right before bed time, playing silly buggers.

The girls doing jig saw puzzles, before school.

7. watching

Brett took the girls out to check the cray pots in Livingstons Bay, near Pelican Point. I stood and watched with the dog. I was the nervous mother on the beach watching my babies go out to sea! They had a great time!

8. on the floor

These two I took yesterday. One of Summer playing during the day, when she gets all the toys to herself.
The other, an after dinner puppet show, with puppets made from toilet rolls.

Beautiful morning on the beach

Saturday was the most gorgeous day.

We headed down to Southend. Boggy went out in the boat to check the cray pots, but there were none. Bugger.

The girls and I had fun on the beach anyway.

Camping weekend - #openslather

Friday, not long after lunch, after Brett had knocked off work, we headed off on a short trip to the Glenelg River.

Just over the Victorian border, lies the Lower Glenelg National Park. We stayed at Wilson Hall campground. It has a boat ramp, a jetty landing, a great flushing toilet block and 12 good camping sites. If you want to be close to the toilets, book a site from 1 to 8. If you want to be closer to the river book sites 9 to 12.

No one saw any snakes, we saw a dead one, that a previous camper had obviously killed, it was in bits, laying next to a tree. So be warned, they are about in Summer.

The campgrounds are in the middle of dense bush, it was dry and dirty. Despite the dirt, we had a great weekend.

Brett cooking breaky in the camp kitchen. His camp shower in the background to the right.

All is good with the world, when Summer has Giggle Asaurus and a drink.

'I'm king of the world'

We stopped up river at the Princess Margaret Rose caves for a picnic lunch. We didn't have a cave tour, but got big pencils and ice cream from the shop. (You'll see Brett having a little
lay down on the bench behind the girls).

Stopped on the way back for some fishing

What is a campfire without marshmallows?
