Jasmine

There's a jasmine plant growing on an arch by the side of the house, in between the lounge room and dining room windows. It's in flower at the moment and the fragrance is beautiful. With the weather warming up this week, I've had the windows open and it's heady scent is wafting inside.

I can smell it while I hang washing on the clothesline, a clothesline which hasn't been used much lately, with the rain over the winter. Spring is here, I've been looking forward to it.

What I'm really enjoying of late is taking a closer look at things, especially flowers. This climber has been here for about ten years, I never noticed the wriggly green bit in the centre of the flower.

  1. I love the smell of Jasmine. I'm not sure I had noticed that either. Pretty photos that put a bit of spring in my day.

  8. Jasmine is a bittersweet smell for me Alicia. When I was just 16 my dad had a heart attack, then five-way heart bypass and because he had three girls, two at uni, one at high school, we didn't want to/or couldn't take over the farm (three generations). So he sold. And jasmine is the plant that grew like a weed at our farm. My mum had it over an archway outside my bedroom window and it was always in a vase somewhere! The smell reminds of my upbringing. I also feel so sad for my dad, because his heart and soul is still in at Anawai Farm, our farm, but his body is here. Sorry for the dramatics, but jasmine is more than just a flower for me xxx

  11. Jasmine has to be one of my favourite flowers. You take fantastic macro shots - do you have a macro lens?

    1. Danya to be honest, I wouldn't know what a macro lens looks like lol. I have a $130 camera from Target and I still don't know how to use it properly to it's full potential. I wish I had a better camera and knew how to use it! I love to photograph the garden, it takes many shots to get ones that I am happy with.
