A sign of old and some Maccas

Before leaving the Mount last week, I had to stop and take photos of the painted sign on this old building. What was the Caledonian Society building, is now 'Shadows', a nightclub, and has been for years now.

I was finding it a little hard to find an old painted sign in my own town. So many buildings have been painted and signs like this one, that add so much character, have gone. When I saw this one it grabbed my attention and I knew I wanted to use it.

My place in time #82 - An old painted sign on the side of a building

Mt Gambier with the kids at lunch time always means Maccas. A happy meal and a play. A pot of tea for me.

  1. I didn't know you could get a pot of tea at McDonalds! I love old signage on buildings too. ;)

    1. Hey I didn't know either! Last time I paid $3 for a cup of black tea. This time I was suitably impressed when they charged me $3.15 and bought the pot.

  2. So sad when things from the past disappear to make way for the new, especially when it's not necessarily for the better! Girls look like they had fun at Maccas! :)

    1. They do. They love playing in the playground. Thankfully this time I didn't have to get up in there myself to retrieve a kid :)

  3. That old building is spectacular. Country towns really have the most amazing buildings...

    1. They don't make them like they used to. Amazing to think what it took to build such grand building, back in the day.

  4. I used to love taking the kids for McHappy meals. They were all fed for $15-$20. Now my boys alone cost that much...and the burgers are smaller too :) Great photos Alicia xx

  5. You are right those signs are slowing fading away or being covered! I could do with a cuppa right now! x

  6. We still have a few of those kinds of signs that I can think of. I remember them from when I was little. Thanks for hosting :))
