Hunting for mushrooms

Monday we went for a short drive out of town, it's that time of year when mushrooms come popping up out of the ground.

I remember Mum bringing me along this stretch of track when I was preggers with Izzy, and the mushrooms were thick, we got two shop bags full.

I wanted to share the excitement of picking mushrooms with Izzy. We found some, we were about a week late, most of them were too far gone, the bugs had got there first.  We'll definitely will be coming back in a couple of weeks to creep along this track again, looking for mushies. Izzy still won't want a bar of eating them.

  1. We have just started getting really large mushrooms. I guess the weather must be right for them. It looks like a fun day out.

  2. There are so many "magic mushrooms" around Canberra that I'd be frightened I'd pick the wrong ones and send my family into some sort of drug induced hallucination! LOL.

    1. Even worse, death by mushrooms. I only pick these sort and know these ones are ok. I would know much about other sorts.

    1. It's good when the shrooms are there! Pretty boring when they are not. Gets us out the house anyway.

  8. I love both finding and eating mushrooms. Though I have never eaten any that I have found. Only ones I have bought in the shops. I wouldn't be game, nor know which ones were eatable or not. Looks like fun.

  9. LOVE the new look blog - sorry I haven't seen it earlier, been off a bit with sick sissy and life in general kicking my butt!
Anyhoe - I used to go mushroom picking growing up, but we were sent off on the 500 acre farm, with a basket and told not to come back until the basket was full! We must have walked for hours! Great pics, Em x
