2019 Pines Enduro

The Teagle Excavation Pines Enduro was held over the weekend in Millicent, South Australia. It was the final round of the 2019 ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship.

We are lucky enough that my brothers place backs onto the quarry, where part of the race track is(so we get to watch for free), with racers heading out into the surrounding pine forest nearby.

I really enjoy this weekend, spending this year with family and friends with a barbeque and a few drinks. There was no shortage of rain this year, with the track getting quite chewed up and muddy on the Sunday. The kids always have a ball, and it's an action packed event that we look forward to each year.

A flash of blue

Spring has sprung, even on the road sides.

Rounding a bend on the way to Pelican Point yesterday brought the sight of a flash of blue beside the roadside. I don't know why I've never noticed it before. A sea of grape hyacinths, bringing some beauty to a normally drab stretch of road.

There were a few times when I'd driven past a scene along the drive and turned around to get a photo,  before the drizzling rain sent me back to the car.

There is certainly no shortage of water around these parts at the moment.

Nene Valley SA

With the girls netball season over, our weekends are a little freed up now. No more getting organised and travelling to mid south east netball clubs, early on winter mornings.

We stayed at our shack in Pelican Point, and saw out winter down the beach at Nene Valley. Nene Valley is a small seaside village, between Port MacDonnell and Carpenter Rocks in the South East. We are very close to the Southern most tip of South Australia here.

There's a clear felled pine forest down the end of our road, so we collected pine cones and logs for our beach fire before lunch and headed off early afternoon to the beach, our bellies full of cheese toasted sandwiches.

We had no luck with the fish and as the cold evening air blew in, we drove home for dinner along the beach, with a glorious sunset farewelling winter.
