Drying Herbs

My old vegemite jar of mixed herbs is getting low, I cut and hang the herbs for a couple of weeks, then chop them up.

Rosemary

Basil Mint

Oregano

Thyme

Sage

What herbs do you have growing and do you cut and dry them yourself?

  1. Basil mint? What is basil mint?
We grow rosemary, my favourite, as well as parsley, oregano, lemongrass, basil and chives. I just love having fresh herbs at handy, they add the best flavours!

    1. It's a mint, but it smells and tastes like basil! I LOVE parsley, I have some self seeded ones coming up and two bags in the freezer before the last plants went to seed.

  2. We have rosemary (it's out of control!), mint, parsley, coriander, basil and chives! Just love having them around and drying them! :)

    1. Rosemary does get a bit out of control, I have chives too and was excited to see a coriander plant coming up from seed.

  5. I've never thought of drying herbs, and I've only just started a growing a few on my balcony - rosemary, corriander, parsely & basil. What are good herbs for drying?

    1. You can dry anything, I also freeze soft herbs(like parsley) when the plants start to go to seed, so its not wasted.

  6. What a great idea Alicia! I am a serial plant killer, so far I am yet to even keep herbs alive - but we have just had another go at planting some over the school holidays, if they survive I will have to give it a go.
